Global MBA Testimonials

The process of creating value through work-integrated learning is extraordinary. It shifts the primary learning experience from the confines of academic institutions to the actual workplaces of our students. This transformation leads to an unparalleled sense of purpose, as it transitions skills training from theoretical teaching to the invaluable experience gained on the job.

Additionally, work-integration redirects the traditional focus of study from analysis to practical implementation. It is the act of implementation that has the power to bring about real change in the world. This new approach enables students to realize their potential in effecting positive changes within their work environments.

We invite you to explore the remarkable feedback from some of our students who have been willing to openly share their experiences of creating genuine value in their workplaces.

An employee who knows where they stand in a company will endeavour to perform to their peak, unless there are only punitive measure in place for missing set goals or for not achieving them to a set standard, falling short of the required minimum. If the outputs from a newly developed performance appraisal system can account for new and improved means to grow employee value and guide the employee on their chosen career path, the company has of an employee who will go the extra mile.

This assignment has made the latter very clear and allowed me to explore the possibilities of engaging with the business to drive change to our current performance appraisal system.

The module on information technology and customer relations highlighted potential fields of action in business model innovations. For me, it provided clear guidance on how I can adjust my management approaches to drive digital change at my workplace and in my personal entrepreneurial contexts.

The key lesson has been that technology enhances human capability, and we can leverage technology for business model innovation while ensuring human relevance in the other not so obvious decision-making processes around business model innovations.

The module has profoundly enhanced my understanding of how technology can revolutionise business models. It highlighted the critical role of digital transformation in fostering innovation and creating competitive advantages. The real lesson for me has been that for digital investments to transform enterprises like ours, people must lead, and technology will support if deployed effectively. We must master the duality of the challenge of managing today’s business, at the same time looking at possibilities to shape the future.

The small sized class at IBR led to a more personalized and engaging learning experience. The program emphasized work integrated learning, meaning I will be applying theoretical knowledge I have gained, to real-work situations in my workplace. The practical approach has been indeed fulfilling and life changing. Moreover, the program is designed to help you question own personal traits, values and understanding of responsible leadership. This introspective approach can be quite transformative and help me grow as a leader. And as a leader, you set the direction as well as example. The concept of lead by making others powerful and speak possibility of being is indeed the art of leadership and can be revolutionizing!

I have realised that the sense of being aware of different types of personalities is key to conflict management. Last but not least, best way to change long behaviour is to give short way feedback. Attending HRM Residential with IBR and Professor Jannie Le Roux was indeed enlightening and inspiring. I highly recommend this learning approach to line managers to develop outstanding human resource management skills and become great leaders.

Attending the HR residential with IBR and Professor Jannie Le Roux was an outstanding experience! What truly sets IBR apart is its hands-on, practical approach—everything we learned was immediately applicable to real-world business challenges. Instead of working with hypothetical scenarios, we tackled our own real cases, making every discussion directly relevant and impactful.

One of the things I appreciate most about IBR is how it transforms learning into something truly immersive. This wasn’t just about theory—it was about problem-solving, critical thinking, and gaining insights that can be applied immediately. The sessions on team dynamics, motivation, and HR strategy were eye-opening, providing a new perspective on how to create an effective and high-performing work environment.

Beyond the learning, the opportunity to engage with peers from different industries and backgrounds added incredible value. The exchange of ideas, experiences, and challenges made the entire experience even more enriching. A big thank you to IBR for designing such a powerful, hands-on program and to Professor Jannie for leading us through this insightful journey!

This research was very valuable to me by introducing a new tool that l can now use for strategy development, the Malik-Galweiler strategy map and its nine (9) fields. Prior to undertaking this course, the strategic plan development framework and the elements l used described the vision, mission and values, theory of change, formulating the strategic goal and objectives and developing an implementation matrix. The biggest advantage of using the Malik-Galweiler strategy map over the strategic plan development framework l was using in the past, is that it assesses future and current profit potential which is critical to find out if the business will survive in the short, medium and long term. What was also new to me under this course was the development of a company’s mission. Before this course, l just knew that the company’s mission statement described its reason of existence. This course, however, has taught me that there is more to this meaning and the best way to come up with a company’s mission is consider the customer needs, its capabilities and its beliefs.
